Overview

Microsoft introduced a security feature that can stop HTML or compiled HTML from being viewed across a local area network. As Bentley Hevacomp uses compiled HTML for the manual, in some server client installations the manual may not be available.

Method

The following are potential solutions for this issue. You will need administrator privileges on the client machine for these options.

  1. Run Windows Explorer from the client machine and navigate to the installation folder, and then to the manuals folder on the server machine. Locate the file MANUALS.CHM, right click on the file and select properties from the context menu. On the Properties dialog, select the 'General' tab. If there is an unlock button on this page, then click it, then select apply.

  2. Using "Run" or "Search" open REGEDIT on the client machine, and add the key:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\HTMLHelp\1.x\ItssRestrictions

And a DWORD value for MaxAllowedZone, which should be set to 2

(This method should only be considered if the Unblock button cannot be located in the method above. This should only be considered by IT professionals.

  3. Finally, if none of the above work, then as a last resort MANUALS.CHM can be copied from the installation folder of the software on to the client machine desktop. (Ensure this is an actual copy and not a shortcut) While this will not provide context sensitive functionality, you will be able to peruse the manual after double clicking on MANUALS.CHM
