Problem
Is there a way users can load Bentley Descartes for MicroStation when they are working in MicroStation?
Solution
There are 2 ways that a user can start Descartes while they are in MicroStation.
1.) Utilities > Key-In > MDL LOAD DCARTES
2.) Utilities > MDL Applications > DCARTES > Load
If you want Descartes to start when the user opens MicroStation you can add the attached line to the "Userspace".ucf file that is being used when you start MicroStation. By default it is Untitled.ucf. The .UCF file is located in the C:\ProgramData\Bentley\MicroStation V8i (SELECTseries)\WorkSpace\Users folder.

There is currently no way for the user to unload Descartes and you not be charged for a license. Defect # 75140 has been filed for the ability to unload Descartes and the license be freed up and the user no longer be charged for a Descartes license.
