Overview

The SBEM calculation engine can consider the HWS system as the main fuel heating type and this will be displayed on the EPC

Method

The SBEM calculation engine considers both Heating and Hot Water systems when deciding which system is considered as the main heating system. In the example shown here, HWS has been defined with Grid Supplied Electricity, the Heating system with a Gas boiler. The demand on the HWS system exceeds that of the heating system. Under these circumstances SBEM considers the HWS system to be the main heating system.

If you consider the Energy Report, you can clearly see the HWS usage is higher than the Heating system usage.
