Overview

Occupancy levels that are defined within CAD input are overwridden by the NCM database.

Method

The SBEM calculation engine ignores user defined occupancy levels in order to ensure consistent comparison between buildings. Building and activity types are taken from Design Database and compared to tables in the NCM database, ultimately providing occupancy densities, profiles and latent gains for the SBEM calculation engine.

Internal heat gains are calculated from occupancy conditions and metabolic rates, which are in turn taken from the NCM database. For e.g.
