The Reality Data Widget

The Reality Data Widget offers a consistent Reality Data consumption experience across all of Bentley’s Powered by iTwin web applications.

There are multiple distinct workflows for optimizing and uploading Reality Data to the ProjectWise ContextShare service. Those workflows are grouped in two distinct categories:

  1. iModel Connector: In this workflow, Reality Data is attached to a DGN file and is automatically published to ProjectWise ContextShare when the DGN file is published by an iModel Connector. The resulting Reality Data is optimized for use in iTwin applications, associated to an iTwin (project or asset) and attached to the destination iModel. Note that Reality Data are only published once for a given DGN/iModel combination.
  2. Reality Modeling desktop application: In those workflows, an application such as ContextCapture, Descartes or the Orbit Import and Upload Tool is used to publish a Reality Data to ProjectWise ContextShare. The resulting Reality Data is optimized for use in iTwin applications, associated to an iTwin (project or asset), but is not attached to any iModel.

The following Reality Data formats are optimized for use in Powered by iTwin web applications and listed in the Reality Data Widget:

IconTypeExtension
 Cesium 3D Point Cloud.json
 Cesium 3D Tiles.json
 OpenStreetMap BuildingsThird-party resource
 Web Ready 3D Scalable Mesh.json
 Web Ready Point Cloud.opc
 Web Ready Terrain Scalable Mesh.json

No matter which workflow is used to publish Reality Data to ProjectWise ContextShare, the Reality Data Widget is your gateway to list, manage visibility and control display settings oReality Data that are associated to the current iTwin, and optimized for use in Powered by iTwin web applications.
