The instructions and video below show how-to Export to PLT from OpenRoads SignCAD 2024 and bring the PLT file into other print/cut control software for manufacturing.

Step 1:  Select the file, sign or other element (arrow, graphic, etc.) to export.

Step 2:  Pick the File tab to go to the Backstage and pick Export. Select the Export to PLT or Export Selected to PLT option.

Step 3:  In the Export Plot dialog, press the button with the three dots to the right of the Plt File Name, enter a File name and press Save.

Step 4: Set the desired Export Plot parameters and press Export to generate the PLT file.

• Plotter Name: Select the plotter from the drop-down menu. If your specific plotter is not listed, select one of the Generic options.
• Scale: Set the scale and plotter units.
• Material Size: Set the material width, length, and margin.

• • Extensible: This choice should be enabled when using a roll of material. It should be disabled when working with a sheet of material.

• Orientation: Choose the proper orientation for your .plt file.
• Lower Left: Define the lower left of the print file. The default will be the lower left of your sign.
• Automatic Tiling:

• • Multi-sheet: When enabled, the preview will display multiple sheets. These sheets are delineated by blue lines and are contingent upon the specified material dimensions.

Step 5: Bring the saved PLT file into your cutter/plotter software to cut the sign.
