Problem:

Can AutoPIPE export a model to SmartPLANT 3d (SP3D)?

Solution:

 Yes,  using the following procedure.

1. Open the model in AutoPIPE.

2. Select File> Export> DGN model(*.DGN)> the following dialog appears:

Check options as they apply to your scenario and press the OK button

3. A new file will be created in the same folder as the AutoPIPE model. The new file will have the same name as the AutoPIPE model, but with a *.DGN file extension.

4. Due to issues related to SmartPLANT 3D, see the forum here, SmartPLANT 3D does not support any V8 *.DGN file format. There are 2 options:

a. Mentioned on the WIKI above: Take a look at the R3D (Reference 3D) command. You can add the V8 file to SmartPlant Review VUE file and then reference that directly to SP3D.

OR

b. Open the newly created DGN in Microstation, and use File> Save as V7 format to be used as reference in PDS.

Once converted, suggested to re-open the newly created V7 model in Microstation to be sure units and model placement are correct. Save the file and open in SartPLANT 3D.
