Problem:
Typical problems with importing CAESAR (cii) or AREVA PDMS (cii) files into AutoPIPE?
Solution:
Typical import mapping issues are covered in AutoPIPE's online help.
Please see the following AutoPIPE help section:
Help > Contents> Search Tab> enter "CAESAR" (include the quotes), press List Topics button, double click on the selected topic from the list provided to see more information.
You may need to make adjustments to the CIIMAP file (note: file is not free formatted). Format of each section is fixed based on rows and columns of data. Items outside correct format are not read.
Caesar neutral file format (*.cii) does not support the following:
-
- Node numbers larger than 9999
- Load combinations
- Beams
- Hydrodynamic data
- Point Static Earthquake Factor
- User Nozzle Flexibility
- User Weld Efficiency
- Flanges not supported in Caesar mapped to RIGID Options or Valve
- Soil Spring data
- Wind loading data
- Only 9 displacements in Caesar
- Only 3 seismic cases (UDL g) in Caesar
In addition, see the attached file (Caesar_autopipe_Translation_5.pdf) for more information on the following topics:
-
- AutoPIPE / Caesar Translation
- Caesar Neutral File Versions
- Transfering Caesar Model to AutoPIPE
- Transfer Large Caesar Models
- AutoPIPE Configurable Mapping
- Comparative Results
- Write AutoPIPE Model to Caesar
CII to NTL Errors and Warnings
- *** WARNING *** Node greater than 10000, new name generated 520B @ Node 11520
- Answer:
- See limitation above. As indicated by the warning the node number used in the imported CII file is larger than 10000, thus the CII node number 11520 was changed in AutoPIPE to 520B.
- *** WARNING: UNKNOWN MATERIAL. SETTING MATERIAL TO CS.
- Answer:
- The indicated material was not found in the CIIMAP file. Therefore, it was assigned a default material of CS (carbon Steel). Resolve by changing the material after the model opens in AutoPIPE. Or, update the CIIMAP file #$ MATERIAL section with the missing material designation. Be sure to read the notes header above #$ MATERIAL and follow the column requirements.
