Problem

DITEM53 when launching Microstation V8
I get an error message that says could not load DITEM53 when launching Microstation V8

Solution

DITEM53 is an old mdl from a previous version of MicroStation.
This error occurs if you install over top of an older version of MicroStation or if you are using custom configurations created for an older version of MicroStation that may be calling this mdl.
Uninstall the software then delete the Bentley directory.
Reinstall into a clean directory.
If you are using a custom con figuration do a text search for DITEM53 to find out what configuration file is calling the mdl.
Delete or rem out the line.
