Bridge Wizard is a simple tool which allows novice users to rapidly create a complete 3D bridge model. Bridge Wizard allows definition of Materials.
It allows users to quickly create complete bridge models by entering just a few inputs. Models can then be adjusted or modified using other OBM tools. Bridge Wizard tool can be found on the Home ribbon tab in the Bridge Setup group.
- Bridge Name: Unique name for bridge to be created
- Bridge Type: Select from list of supported bridge types. One can create the following bridge types:
- Beam Slab (P/S or RC Concrete Girders)
- Beam Slab (Steel Girders)
- CIP Concrete Box
- RC Slab
- Alignment: Pick interactively Civil alignment from dgn file, or use the drop down arrow to select or use the option to create a new alignment.
- Bridge Start Station: Input Bridge Start Station, or if picking alignment, use cursor to click interactively and select station on the picked alignment.
- Alignment Advanced Options: Specify additional parameters like X, Y, Z , start Tangent direction, radius and hand to generate either straight or circular simple starter alignments.
- Deck: Select from list. New Templates can be added under Utilities > Libraries.
- Custom Deck: If this option is selected, specify deck width and deck thickness in master units, rather than selecting a predefined template.
- Span: The span input can be in two formats: L1 L2 L3 or L1 2@L2
- Beam Spacing: Can be entered in two formats:
- RS S1 S2 … where RS is spacing from deck edge and S1 S2 are beam spacings or
- NumberOfBeams@S1
Example: 5@6.5 will place 5 beams at 6.5 ft spacing. Edge distances will be computed symmetrically based on deck template width.
- Beam Template: Select from list. New Templates can be added under Utilities > Libraries
- Build-Up-Beam: If Bridge type is Steel girder, input the Web and Flange dimensions. Both top and bottom flanges are assumed to be the same dimensions.
- Abutment Template: Select from list. New Templates can be added under Utilities > Libraries
- Pier Template: Select from list. New Templates can be added under Utilities > Libraries
- Barrier Templates (Left and Right): Check the box and select from List.
- On the Materials tab, you can specify material properties for various bridge components. The materials come from the Material library, and include both cost and structural properties.
