QUESTION: How does Bearing Stiffeners , Shear Stiffeners and connection plates behave in LBS program?

ANSWER:

In LBS program the Bearing Stiffeners, Shear Stiffeners and connection plates all behave the same way as stiffeners.

The function that a stiffener serves in the bridge model is a function to show where it is located on the bridge.

LEAP Bridge Steel currently does not design stiffeners. Their use is primarily for determination of shear resistance of the main members and fatigue checking.
