If the SketchUp model that has been chosen from 3D Warehouse has already a very dark material it can happen that in the illustration Display Style the .skp model looks too dark and it is preferred to see it brighter.
Example:
The skp materials themselves used for the model are of a dark color and the skp model already includes the light/shadow settings that were given in SketchUp when it was created. Below there are a few methods that can be used to make the SketchUp model brighter.
Change the materials of the elements of the Skecthup model:
It is possible to drop the model if for example it has been placed as a Cell (settings drop shared cells to elements and solids to surfaces) and then apply brighter materials to the different elements:
1.In Workspace>Configuration look for the variable MS_SKETCHUP_IMAGE and take note of the directory in which the Sketch up images are saved
2.Navigate to the path and look for the sketchup image that is used in the skp model you have used
3. Open the image with for example MicroSoft Office Picture Manager and play around with the Contrast/Brightness settings until the desidered effect is obtained.
4. Close and re-open MS.
5.Make sure within the Material Editor that the Image loaded for the skecthup material is the one that has been brighten up
Play around with the settings of the Solar Light so that for example a brighter time of the year is chosen (play around with Date and time in Solar position).
Pick a Display Style that ignores the lighting settings such as for example Illustration:ignore lighting
