When importing an *.ism.dgn repository into a new file using the RAM Structural System - RAM Manager - iTwin Services - "Pull from file" process, the program Freezes.
The workflow that generates the error is to pull the .ism.dgn into a new RAM SS model from a fresh Ram Manager session. The .ism.dgn file can be selected, but the new .rss file name cannot be input. The cursor spins and the program may be unresponsive or crash. The only solution is to kill the Ram Manager process using the Task Manager.
The dialog that would normally request the name of the new RAM SS file never presents and the program appears to freeze.
Until a fix can be provided, the best work around is to make a new file in RAM SS first, and save that file. Then use the pull process to import the ism.dgn file. The important steps in the process are noted below.
1. Create a new file using the proper units.
2. Optionally assign a project to the file.
3. Start the Bentley Cloud Services - iTwin Service panel and Select the file name link which may not match your existing ism.dgn file.
4. Click Select and find the correct .ism.dgn file.
5. Click Pull from file.
6. Optionally select to show changes, then click Pull
7. You will be promoted to save the .rss file at this point. Even though no changes have happened yet, click Yes.
8. In the Operation Settings check the box to "Use Story Heights Walls and Columns", and click OK
9. Additional section or deck mapping dialogs may appear based on what is in the model. Follow those steps accordingly.
10. When the process is complete click Close and then check the model plan and 3D view for accuracy
It's important to note that some ism.dgn files may still crash the program or fail to import perfectly due to the stringent geometry limitations of Ram Structural System, namely the stacked floor geometry that is required. For those issues, it's best to simplify the model to a point where RAM SS can read it.
