This issue will affect the ability to upgrade MicroStation v8i on a single machine.
Any upgrade to MicroStation CONNECT Edition should not be affected.

Downloading and running Microsoft's "Program Install and Uninstall Troubleshooter" is a known solution. Follow these steps to resolve the issue on your machine:
1. Click on this link: Program Install and Uninstall Troubleshooter
2. Select "Download troubleshooter". A file titled "MicrosoftProgram_Install_and_Uninstall.meta.diagcab" should be downloaded. Run this file.
3. The troubleshooter dialog should appear. Select Next.
4. Select "Uninstalling" (note: this tool can also be used for installation issues as well)
5. Select the MicroStation version you wish to uninstall from the list of programs. Be wary of the version number. Select Next.
6. Select "Yes, try uninstall".
7. After a short wait, the issue will be deemed "Fixed" by the tool. You may close the dialog.
8. Navigate back to the Control Panel (Control Panel>Programs>Programs and Features) and view the list of programs that are currently on your machine. MicroStation v8i should now be removed from your machine. Note that you may need to refresh your list of programs by closing/reopening the Control Panel. If MicroStation v8i is still listed after a refresh, try uninstalling again through the Control Panel.
