Set Snap Mode from User Preferences

 Product:MicroStation
 Version:CONNECT Edition
 Feature:Precision Drawing

The Situation

Have you ever opened a design file, selected a command, only to find the snap mode not set to your desired method of use?

Solution

Set the snap mode for all files from User Preferences.

The active snap mode is, by default, stored separately in each of the individual design files (DGN’s) that you work in. By setting a User Preference, MicroStation will allow the active snap mode to be read from User Preferences rather than the active file.

To set the snap mode to be read from User Preferences, do the following:

  1. Open User Preferences (File > Settings > User > Preferences).
  2. Select the Category: Operation
  3. Enable the setting: Use Snap Mode from Preferences
  4. Click OK.
  5. Close and reopen a design file.
  6. Set the snap settings as desired.

The snap will now remain as it was just set for every subsequent file that is opened.
