The following article describes the process of moving Ribbon Customizations from one GUI DGNLib file to another.

Background

Ribbon Customizations are store in DGNLib files, they may be stored in the users Personal.dgnlib, or in a configured DGNLib file as pointed to be the variable MS_GUIDGNLIBLIST. ( Thus you may need to discuss with your Site Administrator ).

Steps to Accomplish

The first step is to open the the file containing the Ribbon Customizations that you wish to move. The MS_GUIDGNLIBLIST variable will help you to find possible locations if not aware, although you should contact your Site Administrator for assistance. In the case of yor personal.dgnlib this can be located by the variable MS_PERSONALDGNLIB.

  1. Open the DGNLib file containing the Ribbon Customizations. If the active file is not a GUI DGNLib, then the personal.dgnlib is processed
  2. In The key-in window, enter the key-in RIBBON CUSTOMIZATIONS EXPORTECXML.
  3. In the Export Ribbon Customizations dialog, navigate to the location where you want to save the XML file and click Save.
  4. Open the DGNLib file that is to contain the Ribbon Customizations
  5. In the key-in window, enter the key-in RIBBON CUSTOMIZATIONS IMPORTECXML.
  6. In the Import Ribbon ECXml dialog, navigate to the location of the exported ECXml file in Step 3 and click Open.

Note: Having moved (copied) the Ribbon Customizations to a new DGNLib, you may want to remove these from the original to save duplication. To do this open the DGNLib and use the key-in RIBBON CUSTOMIZATIONS REVERTALL. Alternatively use the tools within the Customize Ribbon dialog to remove individual items or Revert all.

Locating Customizations

If you do not know which dgnlib a certain customization resides in you can hover over the item and a popup will appear showing the location and dgnlib where that component is stored.
