Wiring the Device to a Thread Connect Cable

Adding a Multipurpose 4-20mA Device
Ensure that the THREAD is turned on and that the 4-20mA Device is connected to the Thread via one of the Thread Device ports.
1. Navigate to the Connectivity Module.
2. Press the 
button directly on a THREAD to add a Device to it. If your THREAD does not appear here, you may still need to Add your thread as a Connection.
3. You may also add a device from the 
button in the Devices & Sensors Section.
4. Begin by typing in "Multipurpose" and select the name once it autocompletes in the search box.
5. Type in the Connect Code of the THREAD that the Device will be connected to. It will already be pre-filled if the 
button on the THREAD was used.
6. Select the THREAD communication port that the device is plugged into, Device 1, 2, or 3.
7. Select Active or Passive from the dropdown list. This selection informs the Thread whether to power the Device or not. A passive device is externally powered via its own battery or wired power source, while an active device requires power from the Thread in order to operate properly.
Note: Please be informed of the Device requirements and ensure proper selection so as not to cause damage to the Sensor or the Thread.
8. Click the Next button in order to save settings.
Configuring the Device
After adding the Multipurpose 4-20mA Device using the steps above, the user will be taken to the "Edit Configuration" page for the Device. This page can be navigated back to at any time by clicking on the Device in the "Devices and Sensors" tab on the Connectivity page, and then clicking "Edit Configuration" on the left side of the window.
9. SAMPLING INTERVAL- Users can specify the sampling interval of the sensors.
10. POWER SETTINGS- This selection informs the Thread whether to power the Device or not. A passive device is externally powered via its own battery or wired power source, while an active device requires power from the Thread in order to operate properly.
Note: Please be informed of the Device requirements and ensure proper selection so as not to cause damage to the Sensor or the Thread.
11. VW CHANNEL CONFIGURATION- This window allows the user to configure the 4-20mA sensor that they have installed. The image below shows the dropdown options for the category tab. Select "Multi Purpose" for Category and select "Multipurpose 4-2-mA" for sensor.
12. DEVICE NAME- Users can modify the Device Name. This will change the name of the device that populates across the webpage.
13. LOCATION- The Lat, Long and Elevation can be entered here.
Note: Whatever information that is entered here will determine where the sensors populate when using a Georeference Spatial profile.
14. NOTES- Notes for the sensor can be added here.
15. Apply your changes by clicking the 
button.
Configuring the Sensor
Once configured, the 4-20mA sensor will populate beneath the Multipurpose 4-20mA Device and can be viewed by clicking the drop-down arrow.
Additional sensor configurations are required and can be configured by clicking on the sensor. This will bring you to the sensor details page.
1. Clicking "Edit Configuration" will allow the user to access additional configuration details illustrated in the screen above.
2. METRIC CONFIGURATION- There are metric and unit dropdowns that need to be configured for a multipurpose 4-20mA sensor. The metric allows the user to select what the 4-20mA sensor is measuring, with a few examples of the options illustrated below.
3. UNIT CONFIGURATION- The unit selection determines the output value of the device and for the calibration of the 4-20mA device, with an example of the unit options for the height metric displayed below.
4. MILLIAMP RANGE- This input field is the minimum and maximum recorded mA values from the setup and testing of the 4-20mA current loop system.
5. VALUE RANGE- The value range is the corresponding minimum and maximum physical measurements of the selected device metric that are gathered during setup, testing, and measurement of the milliamp range.
6. REFERENCE DATE- The reference date will specify the first date used when calculating delta metrics indicated with the ∆ symbol. Specify the Reference date to use ∆ Delta calculations.
7. DEVICE NAME- Users can modify the Device Name. This will change the name of the device that populates across the webpage.
8. SERIAL NUMBER- Input the serial number of the Sensor.
9. LOCATION- The Lat, Long and Elevation can be entered here.
Note: Whatever information that is entered here will determine where the sensors populate when using a Georeference Spatial profile.

11. Apply your changes by clicking the 
button.
