Overview

Depending on project needs, you may need to generate Numerical Control Data (NC) to provide to the fabricators for drilling holes and cutting of steel members in your structural model. The NC data can be generated in NC, NC1 & DXF formats to provide to the fabricators.

This document will guide you on how generate the NC data for input in CNC machines for drilling holes & cutting.

Method

1) After modelling, you need to position all the parts prior to generating NC data by using the ‘Positioning’ tool.

2) Once this is done, you need to navigate to Data/Reporting > Reporting and then click on the ‘NC Data’

3) In the NC Data dialog box, you can specify the NC output file folder, sub-folder & storage path. You also need to select the output type according to your requirement.

4) Once, you have all the parameters, click on the ‘Create NC Files’

5) The NC files get generated, and along with it a log file is also created giving the detailed information about the processed & unprocessed parts.

6) The folder containing the NC data files is also opened.

7) You can also review the same NC data that is generated in a CNC program application.

In this manner, ProSteel allows you to generate the NC data for CNC machines containing all the information for drilling holes and cutting steel members, which can then be provided to the fabricators.
