When there is any moment connection applied in model between column and beam, it is common practice to show that connection in the 2D via triangular symbol so that erector can come to know that there moment connection exists. This document will explain how to display that symbol in 2D Drawing Views via Detail center.
This Moment Connection Symbol can be activated in the 2D Plan View, only if the connection is placed via Endplate Connection.
Please follow below the steps to achieve this.
1. When placed Endplate connection, it will automatically place triangle on the side of the connection as below. In this case there is a connection on each side of the beam.
2. Size of the symbol can be controlled in Detail Style under "2D Display > Views" page using the symbol size field.
3. The next step is to force the creation of symbol in the 2D drawings with the Object display rules. Create a new group and name it as Connections. Then using Add Part option add "Moment connection element"
4. From there, we need to set the rules to use the symbol in the “2D display settings” by selecting “US Stick” in the “Display” pull-down,
which then gives you three (3) options to select from right underneath:
For the Moment connection symbol, options A or B turns the symbol “on”, "No additional options" turn it “off”. And then you will get the output as below.
