You can insert elevations for component parts in the display windows as well as insert length & width distances as elevation symbols. These symbols will appear in the 3D model as well as can be displayed as Elevation Flags in generated 2D drawings.
This document will guide you on how to add Elevation symbols in your model and display Elevation Flags in the drawings.
1) Navigate to Steel > Drawing production > Annotation > Elevation Symbol and click on that tool.
2) This will open the ‘Elevationflags’ dialog box. Here, in the ‘Zero point’ tab, you can set the co-ordinates of the origin or alternatively, you can choose to define the origin graphically by a mouse click in the model.
3) Next, in the ‘Layout’ tab, you can set the display of the elevation icon by choosing a standard display or an icon from the cell library. Alternatively, you can also modify the style by clicking the ‘Edit Style’ icon which will then open the ‘Elevation Style Display’ dialog box allowing you to edit the display style of the elevation symbol.
4) In the ‘Sort’ tab, you can create, edit and delete Elevation Flags and Elevation Styles.
You can also load a style which is not in the drawing but stored on the hard drive.
5) Finally, in the ‘Insert’ tab, you can chose an Elevation Flag Style and set the level & scale and then place the elevation flags in your 3D model in the X, Y and Z directions as per your requirement.
6) Once all the Elevation Flags are placed in your model you need to group the same with the associated group / assembly by using the ‘Group’ tool.
NOTE – Alternatively, you can also use the tool in the ‘Insert’ tab of ‘Elevationflags’, to create grouped elevation symbols in your 3D model directly.
7) Once grouped, set up the 2D Detail Center and then you need to tick in the check box in the 2D Display > Common > 2D Elevation Symbols.
Then complete the setup and generate your drawings.
9) Once you place your 2D drawing, you will see that the same has been marked with the orientations as per the set benchmark in your 3D model.
In this manner, you can easily add elevation Flags in the 2D drawings.
