Problem Description
If a drawing will no longer open or experiences frequent crashes and all other solutions have been tried in order to "fix" the file, try merging the bad drawing into a new drawing.
Steps to Resolve
- Before you do anything, make a backup copy of the bad file.
- In AECOsim Building Designer (in any working file), go into Workspace - Preferences - Look and Feel and turn off the option to Use Windows File Open Dialogs then Ok.
- Click File - Save and then File Save Settings to write the modification to the Preferences file
- Select File - Close to go back to the File Open (the old "MicroStation Manager) dialog. You will now have a File - pull-down menu in the upper left-hand corner
- Click File - New to create a new file of the same type (using the same seed file type).
- Select the Merge option
- Merge the bad file into the new file you just created by filling in the fields and following the prompts. This can take a minute or so depending on how many elements are in the original file.
- When finished, you will be taken back to the File - Open dialog
- Open the new file and see if the contents of the old file were merged into the new file and if the new file can now be used.
