Background
In OpenPlant PID , sometimes user need to show information from previously created dgn to an active dgn, hence we can use Page Connectors to show these information. We can also use Class element like constructions or primary to Show/ Hide Page Connectors and also Tag information ( which are coming from different dgn) if we need to visualize it properly on on an active DGN.
Hence this exercise is to show how page connectors can be useful and also some feature like Clip Reference is involved .One DGN drawing can be used in multiple drawing as reference and the information coming from it.
Steps to Accomplish
- Draw a basic arrangement in one dgn, here F1 as shown in below image with A Vessel, Pipeline (P1) connected to Pump and another pipeline (P2) with an off-page connector.

- After creation of this arrangement, Synchronize the drawing with database to push all the data.

- Click on file and then click on NEW to create new file F2 and attach the F1 as reference.

- Click on Fence Option to fence the area which we need to clip, see below.
NOTE: Ensure that parts of both the pipeline are being fenced.

- While Fence is on see the green fenced area, click on “Clip reference “option and with the settings shown below clip the part of reference.

- To create clipped reference fence the area and click on Clip Reference and click anywhere outside the fence area and clip will be formed.

- Now create another pipeline (little away from P2) which is connected to another Pump as shown below in the active dgn beside clipped area.

- Place an ON-Page Connector and ensure insert by is ON, place on pipeline created on active file.

Insert By : ON , and place as below image.

- Move the assembly created on active file and towards clipped reference, as shown below.

Put ON Page Connector point on Nozzle as below.

- Now Lets take a look at all the flow directions
Notice below the P1 is highlighted, and the connection it is showing i.e. From V-0003 to PMP-0004 which is on other DGN ( 1st dgn, F1), check highlighted below.

- Similarly , to see the flow properties of other pipeline.

- All the connections are shown with the help of Page Connectors, however, we can even hide the Page connectors in order to visualize it properly.
To do that, Click on Constructions from View Attributes

Select Page Connector and from the element information click on Shape and change the class to CONSTRUCTION to hide.

Check below Connector is hidden.

Similarly do this for Tag Name :0001 and F2,change the Class to Construction to hide the Tags.
- After all these steps try to Synchronize the data, which will result in successful synchronization.
