Overview

In previous versions of OpenPlant PID there was no method to quickly change the state of a valve from open to close without deleting the original valve and inserting a different version of it.

In Update 10, the option to change the state of an existing valve instead of needing to place a different valve is Available. The open or closed state is defined as a property of the valve instead of having a different class.

In this wiki, we will learn how
to change the state of the valve, and what changes are needed in the class editor to enable this feature.

Steps To Accomplish

  1. Load OpenPlant PID CONNECT Edition.

  2. Place a Pipeline and place a Valve.

  3. Right Click on Valve and open Properties of the valve.

  4. Change the Valve State as Closed. Notice that the graphics of the Valve also change.

Changes Implemented in Schema for this feature of quickly changing valve state
  1. Load Bentley Class Editor V8i.

  2. Load OpenPlant_PID.01.08.ecschema.xml  schema and supplement it with OpenPlant_PID_Supplemental_Design.01.08.ecschema.xml schema.

  3. Navigate to Gate Valve and go to Valve State property. This property is overridden because it was inherited from the Valve class.

  4. Notice the name of ExtendType. This new attribute implementation is responsible for driving the valve type.

Note :- For each state, define a different cell name to be used and the software will automatically swap out the cell whenever the state of the valve will change.
