Problem

I have imported several isolation valves using ModelBuilder. How do I attach the valves to a pipe?

How do I batch assign isolation valves to pipes?

Solution

The Assign Isolation Valves to Pipes tool can be used to assign isolation valves to pipes in batch. In the CONNECT Edition release, go to Tools > Tools > More > Assign Isolation Valves to Pipes (or use the Ribbon Search to find the tool). In V8i, go to Tools > Assign Isolation Valves to Pipes.

This will assign the closest pipe to the isolation valve. A dashed line will be drawn from the isolation valve to the midpoint of the pipe.

Note: if changes are made to the model and the isolation valve assignments are no longer correct, you may need to re-run this tool, with the box checked for "Also process isolation valves that already have an associated pipe", or make a selection set of the elements/area that needs fixing, and select the Selection Set option in this tool.
