How logos are handled on default templates

Question

How are logos are handled on default templates?

Answer

Each of the default templates has an allocated placeholder to accomodate a company logo. Whichever file is nominated as 'Logo1' in either the project of configuration pack as appropriate is inserted into this placeholder.

Explanation

As maintaining the aspect ratio of a logo is important (that is, if a logo is resized the ratio between vertical and horizontal sizing must be retained) the placeholder provides an insertion point but doesn't change the shape. Instead, there is a buffer around the edge of the placeholder, illustrated by the red rectangle below:

Where a logo is inserted into the placeholder position it is expanded until the border of the logo meets this buffer. At this point the logo size is set. The following image illustrates how a logo is sized in the context of the buffer (again, represented by the red rectangle):

In this example the contents of the black rectangle are the logo image actually nominated as 'Logo1'.
