gINT has many specialized shortcut key combinations that streamline standard program tasks in INPUT and other areas. Using shortcuts can reduce your time in adding, modifying, and printing data.

Keyboard Shortcuts

  1. Go to INPUT.  Open a project with at least 3 boreholes and records in different tabs.

  2. Select the Borehole tab.

  3. Press Ctrl-O (shortcut for “Open”). Notice the file browser opens for selecting a different project database (equivalent to File->Open Project. Click Cancel.

  4. Press F1 (shortcut for “Help”). Notice that the gINT Help window opens. Close the help window.

  5. Move around between cells in the data entry grid using the right, left, up, and down arrow keys.

  6. Press the F2 key. The currently highlighted cell opens for editing (equivalent to double-clicking in the cell). Press Esc to exit this mode. (If you had entered changes, you would instead press Enter to save changes to the cell before exiting).

  7. Press Home. Notice that you move to the first cell in the current row.

  8. Press End. Notice that you move to the last cell in the current row.

  9. Press Ctrl-Enter. Notice that you move to the first cell in the next row.

  10. Go to the Lithology (or another tab with data). Press the F6 key repeatedly, and notice that each time the object selector moves forward to the next borehole, and the lithology records change accordingly. Now press Shift-F6 repeatedly, and notice that the object selector moves backwards through the list of boreholes.

Note: If you use F12 and Shift-F12 (instead of F6 and Shift-F6) to page through child records by borehole, boreholes without any child records in the table will be skipped.
