You can preview your report in either the INPUT or OUTPUT application groups. Previewing in INPUT is fast and convenient, but you have no options (such as the ability to select which boreholes to output) and cannot print.

For printer output and advanced options, use OUTPUT.

Note: This exercise requires the use of the training.GPJ project and the training.GLB library available from: download.aspx.  Instructions for unzipping and setting up these files is on: using gint downloaded examples.aspx.

Previewing In INPUT

Prior to previewing a report in INPUT for the first time, you assign a report form to each table. This becomes that table’s preview report until you need to specify a different report. It is not uncommon to specify the same preview report for all tables. To specify a preview report for a table, do the following:
  1. Go to File->Change Library.  Select the training.glb and click Open.

  2. Go to INPUT.  Open the training.gpj project.

  3. Go to the Well tab.

  4. Select Tables->Preview Report. The PREVIEW REPORT dialog box opens.

  5. Click the Browse   button to the right of Preview Report Type!Name. The ‘Report Type’ dialog box appears.

  6. This is for selection of a report type, such as Logs, Fences or Graphs.

  7. Select ‘LOG’. Click the drop-down arrow on the Name property. A new selection list appears.

  8. The list contains all the log report forms in the current library.

  9. Select ‘GENERAL BH/TP/WELL’.

  10. Click OK. The ‘Preview Report’ dialog box reappears with a report name.

  11. Click OK. The current table tab (Well in our case) now has a preview report assigned.

You can repeat this process for the other table tabs so that gINT knows what report is used for preview in each. We will not do this in this training exercise, however.

To preview your data in the preview report you specified, do the following:

  1. Select File->Print->Preview or click the Preview   icon.
  2. Click OK to preview the report. The program displays the report in preview mode.

  3. Click the Exit Preview   icon or tab to close the preview and return to INPUT.

gINT remembers your most recent settings in INPUT and opens the same report form if you preview again in the same INPUT table tab. This creates a one-click means to get from the data input grid to a preview of the report.
