WaterSight - Converting tank percent full to level using derived signals

WaterSight supports the integration of level signals with different types of units, however it does not support if values are given in percentage (percent full of tank).

In case percent full is the only parameter available in the data source, it is possible to directly bring that parameter into WaterSight by considering these sensors as the type "Other" when uploading the sensor list in the Administration >> Sensors

In this case the percentage signals will get displayed in the WaterSight graphs, however the tank dashboards (which include tank schematics and tank turnover) will not calculate as they require the level parameter. Also the percent full signal can also not be associated to the hydraulic model element and be used in the model runs, as the model does not support a percentage as input.

Therefore it is always recommended to convert tank percentage to tank level using the derived signal function of WaterGEMS. The video below illustrates the typical workflow.

Please note that the new level sensors need to be added to the pusher tool (OpenFlowsOnsiteCoordinator) so that time series data can be transmitted into WaterSight. Therefore it is required to update the WaterGEMS model file that runs with the pusher tool, as well as the model that is uploaded in the WaterSight administration, under numerical models (in case the user wants real tank levels to override model defaults).
