Community Question:
Hello Bentley, someone could help me to clarify the next doubts about CDM card options?
- When the option "WE" is chosen for the CDM command line, does SACS compute the hydrodynamic coefficient for each member, accounting for the member diameter and water particle velocity at that depth?
- I was not able to find these calculated hydro coefficients at the.lst file. How should I proceed to access the cd cm values calculated?
- The option "WD" is not explained in SACS manual. It is only mentioned in the "Input Lines" section, under the following text:
"( 5- 6) THE FOLLOWING ARE API 20TH EDITION OPTIONS ONLY. . . .

In this case (WE option), calculations are entirely performed in accordance with DNV-RP-C205? I'm asking since the beginning of the sentence is "the following are API 20th edition options only".
- When one of these options is selected ("we" or "wd"), what values are applied for members which are not within 15 degrees of vertical?
Answer
- 'WE' option applies wake encounter effects according to API-21st edition section C2.3.1b7 to all members below the water surface. The criteria in the dynamic analysis are to select all members at a given time below the water surface; in the static analysis, we use the mean water surface.
- For to have access to the drag and inertial coefficient calculated by SACS you need to activate the option MPP member summary print option in LDOPT card. And then below of the seastate parameter you could find the report "PARAMETERS USED FOR HIDRODINAMIC LOADS" with all this information

- The options "WD" covers the DNV standard, when it is selected
- The defaults values for drag and inertial are 0.65 and 2.0 for that member who are not withing 15 degree of vertical
