A new version of OpenFlows Storm 2024, which consists of CivilStorm and StormCAD, has been released.
The new release supports integration with AutoCAD 2026 and MicroStation 2025.
Raster files are now a supported source file type to import elevation data using TRex.
This was previously supported in the ArcGIS Pro integrated versions, but is now available in Standalone. More information on using TRex can be found here: Using Terrain Extractor (TRex) to assign elevations.
Composite gutters are now supported in the Gutter Catalog. If you select the Gutter Type to be a catalog gutter, you will see a “Composite” option for the Gutter Shape. In the Gutter Catalog itself, the composite gutter type will display a table with the gutter width and the gutter cross-slope.
Gutter elements can now to selected as the Outflow Element for a catchment in the StormCAD (GVF-Rational) solver. When you use a gutter as the outflow element, the runoff from the catchment will apply directly to the gutter.
When there is an inlet in sag with two incoming gutters, the Catchment Delineation feature in the Terrain Model manager will now create two catchments. To facilitate this, the catchment delineation properties in the Terrain Model manager as a new option called “Create separate catchments for inlets in sag with two incoming gutters”.
See the following link for more information on catchment delineation: Using Catchment Delineation
The input for catalog inlets is now available as read-only fields in the catch basin properties. Since these are read-only fields, you will need to edit the catalog inlet, you will need to open the Inlet Catalog.
Support for the calculations for the HEC-22 ”Technote Curb Opening Inlet On Grade” has been included for the GVF-Rational, GVF-Convex, and Explicit solvers. In the calculation options, you will now see an option called "Use2022TechNoteForCurbInletsOnGrade". If this is set to True, the calculations from the HEC-22 Technote will be applied to the calculation. For information on the Technote, see this link.
Support for overtopping culverts has been included in the Explicit, GVF-Rational, and GVF-Convex solvers. The input will vary slightly depending on the solver that is selected.
When computing, the overtopping results will be displayed in the Flow (Overtopping Roadway) field.
You can now enter values for the road cross slope of a gutter that exceeds the gutter cross slope. This situation can occur in some specific inlet types.
Catch basin elements can now be set as storage elements in the Explicit solver. A property field “Is storage node?” is included in the element properties.
A new conduit shape, Round-bottomed rectangular channel, has been added to conduits when using GVF-Convex or GVF-Rational solver. This conduit shape is also available in the catalog conduit for the Explicit solver, where it is treated like a round-bottomed rectangular pipe.
Supported Operating Systems
Compatible Platforms
Older models can be opened in this version of OpenFlows Sewer and OpenFlows Storm.
Models saved in 2024 can still be opened in 2023.
