Procedure for Requesting Access to Archived Software Versions :
To ensure compliance with Bentley’s legal and security standards, the distribution of archived software versions is strictly controlled. Please review the following policy and steps carefully before submitting a request:
Policy Overview :
- Distribution Restrictions: No previous versions of Bentley software may be distributed without explicit approval from the Release Services team.
- Unsupported Version Requests: Any request for an unsupported or archived version must be accompanied by:
- Operational request - (Bentley Internal document).
- Acknowledgement and Release for Unsupported Software document - (provided in technical support case)
Rationale :
Due to the heightened focus on cybersecurity, only the most current versions of Bentley software are available on the Software Download site. Older versions have been archived and are no longer listed in the download dropdown menu. The Technical Support Group (TSG) is not authorized to distribute archived installers without prior approval from Bentley Management.
Using outdated software may expose users to security vulnerabilities. Additionally, Bentley may face legal and compliance risks if outdated versions—potentially containing unlicensed technologies—are distributed.
Procedure for Requesting Access to Archived Software:
- Log a Technical Support case with Bentley. Case should contain the following information:
- Specify the Product (provide the exact product name and full version number you are requesting, example AutoPIPE 12.08.04.09).
- Justify the Request (submit a detailed explanation of why the latest version cannot be used. This explanation must go beyond citing project requirements and should clearly outline the advantages of the older version).
- Technical support will send an "Acknowledgement and Release for Unsupported Software" Legal document.
- Copy contents of Legal document on to your company letter head, complete the document with pertinent information, and ensure document is signed by your organization’s President, Vice President, or Owner. The request process will be suspended until this step is completed as detailed.
- Send "Acknowledgement and Release for Unsupported Software" Legal document back to Bentley for review.
- The Legal department at Bentley will assess the case for thoroughness and verify that the signature of the individual possesses the appropriate credentials.
- Once the internal review is complete, you will be informed of Bentley Management’s decision regarding the distribution of the requested software version.
- If approved, the email will contain a hyperlink to download the requested unsupported software's installer.
