Can we use the Freebody module to extract joint reaction forces for the Collapse analysis?

 

Answer

No. SACS will output a System Error.

The Collapse program divides members into sub-segments. When it creates a CSF file, each member is broken down into multiple elements. Consequently, the SACS model file input is not compatible with the CSF file generated by the Collapse program. Additionally, this CSF file is only designed for limited support during post-processing (POST module) and is not intended to work with the Freebody module.

The workaround is to open the Collapse DB in Precede and create reports for a given joint and connecting members.

If user needs SACS to support Collapse CSF in the Freebody module, please share your suggestion on the IDEA portal.
