Configuration Pack Version and Key Name

Starting with version v10.0.1.2552 of OpenGround Professional, two new fields are included under System>Configuration Packs for the configuration pack 'Key Name' and 'Version'. This article explains the purpose of these fields.

All user custom configuration packs are built upon a standard configuration pack (or a legacy standard configuration pack).

Beginning with this update, any new standard configuration pack published by Bentley will have a Version number assigned.

Prior to this update, standard configuration packs did not have a Version number assigned so you may not see a Version number for your configuration pack.

However, most configuration packs will have a 'Key Name', which corresponds with a standard configuration pack.

In the future, we will publish new versions of standard configuration packs to incorporate new features and fixes, as well as to support new industry standards.

The Version number and Key Name will allow you to identify what standard configuration pack your custom configuration pack is built upon. This helps with general support, as well as to identify what updated versions might be available.

(In the future, we will post additional information on how you will be able to migrate customizations from your current configuration pack to a new version of a configuration pack.)

Prior to this update, the base configuration for a user's custom config pack was not obvious since configuration packs can be re-named.

Version numbers and Key Names cannot be updated by users. They are assigned when the configuration pack is published and cannot be changed for the life of the configuration pack.

Please see here for downloads and a change log of the different Versions of the standard configuration packs, which includes the Key Name used for each configuration pack.

Note that the Key Names of certain standard configuration packs changed with the introduction of config pack versioning. For example, prior to the update, the standard Australia configuration pack had the Key Name 'Oceania', but this has been changed to 'Australia' to simplify naming conventions. Similar changes were made for the North America Metric and UK configuration packs.
