Grids are what we see in the program. A grid is a view of a table/group in the database. in this way, a grid can be modified and also could have more information or less information that is in the table/group in the database. This is very important to understand as you might find you see the same table/group with different grids.
When you select a grid the name along the top of the grid window will show in orange. This means the Grid Tools ribbon is visible/active and the grid can be edited.
Note this also gives you the context-sensitive Grid Tools ribbon as we talked about in the first section.
You can open tabs of grids by double-clicking on the Project Explorer to open the grids.
You can move back to other already open grids by clicking on them along the top of the interface.
You will know which one you have active because it will be highlighted in orange.
OpenGround Grids are moveable and you can move them around in the interface. click and hold on the grid name along the top of the interface.
Moving the grid will let you use the quadrants tool to appear in the middle of the interface this will let you dock that gird into one of the four options.
You can make setups of grids that help to review data or answer questions between different grids groups/tables.
There are several methods to input data into OpenGround, ranging from importing to data entry profiles or field data entry. If your goal is merely to review or alter information, you can directly edit the grids from Professional.
Initially, you may notice that the grids are not editable by default; they are read-only. To make a grid editable or to add data directly, you will need to use the add/edit data button from the Grid Tools ribbon.
The Grid Tools is context-sensitive, appearing when you select a grid. By default, the grid name is blue. Clicking on the grid name turns it orange, indicating that the Grid Tools ribbon is active, and you can select the Add/Edit button to edit the active grid.
In edit mode, you can alter data for that grid. An orange bar at the top of the grid will indicate that you are in edit mode.
To add a new row, click on the top orange row, and a new row of data will be created.
You will need to hit enter on your keyboard when making changes to commit the change to the row.
