June 2022
- Auto user sync
(requires ProjectWise Plug-in for WSG CONNECT Edition Update 3.4 R4 (10.00.03.462) or later)
When auto user sync is enabled in the primary work area connection, the current participants of the work area are automatically added to the team members list of the ProjectWise project. ProjectWise Web will then synchronize the project with the work area participants list every 24 hours to make sure the team members list in the project is always up to date. In order to turn this setting on, the connection must be the primary connection.
See Adding and Configuring Work Area Connections
April 2022
This release introduces the following enhancements for work area connection management:
- Primary connection
You can now designate one work area connection in each project as the primary connection. The primary connection establishes a one-to-one relationship between the project and work area and is used as the default connection by ProjectWise Web and other cloud services. Designating a connection as the primary connection also automatically enables the use of ProjectWise Drive in that connection.
See Adding and Configuring Work Area Connections
- New permissions to allow non-IMS admins to manage project connections
An administrative team member who is not an admin in Bentley IMS can now add or manage work area connections as long as they have BOTH of these project permissions enabled:
See Work Area Connection Requirements
- Connection health check
In the connections list, a warning or information icon will appear next to a connection that requires some kind of attention or additional configuration. For example, if the work area in the primary connection is not currently associated to the project, or if the version of the ProjectWise Plug-in for WSG needs to be updated.
January 2022
New Features

- Folder selection in Advanced search – limit advanced search to a folder. Active folder is automatically preselected.

- Improved simple search – simple search will perform all content and full text search. This is now the same as in ProjectWise Explorer.

- WebView links – Get link has an option to create a WebView link.

Fixes
- Attributes were not displayed in document list when document and view environments were different but column names were the same.
- Attribute panel was not updated when document was moved in WRE workflow.
- Dates in Audit trail CSV export were formatted incorrectly.
- Other bug fixes.
April / May 2021 update
- ProjectWise Drive (version 2021.3.x) enhancements:
- When you have this version (or later) of ProjectWise Drive installed, selecting an Office document and selecting Start co-authoring session or Join co-authoring session will open the Office document for co-authoring in your Office desktop app instead of in a new browser tab. (Note that ProjectWise Drive only needs to be installed for this feature to work - the work area connection does NOT need to be synchronized with ProjectWise Drive, neither does ProjectWise Drive need to be running, for this feature to work).
- If a document is currently checked out to you in ProjectWise Web, the document will now automatically become checked out to you in ProjectWise Drive:
- either as soon as you synchronize the work area connection with ProjectWise Drive
- or as soon as you sign in to ProjectWise Drive, if the work area connection was already synchronized but ProjectWise Drive was not running when you checked out the document in ProjectWise Web
(In earlier versions, the document that was checked out to you in ProjectWise Web would be locked to you in ProjectWise Drive in these situations.)
- When a document is checked out to you in ProjectWise Drive, you can sign in to ProjectWise Drive on any computer and that document will be checked out to you there.
Note that the local changes you make to a document on one computer are not automatically available on other computers where ProjectWise Drive is installed, so you should try to only work on a document from one location.
- You can now look up information about the current work area connection by selected Settings > About current connection. The dialog that opens shows the following details:
- Name of connection
- Description of connection
- Name of work area
- Bentley Web Services Gateway (WSG) URL
- ProjectWise datasource that contains the work area
- ProjectWise Plug-in for WSG version
- Bentley Web Services Gateway version
- Browser version
- Menu items related to working on folders have been added to the action menu when a folder is selected.
- A menu item has been added to the action menu when a PDF is selected - Open in PDF Markup Service (you can also still just click the PDF to open it).
- The Advanced Search dialog has been improved, and now shows the environment that the selected property or attribute belongs to.
