Problem
How can I model tank above hull structure?
Solution
All tanks in MAXSURF need to be created inside the hull. In order to model tank outside of hull surface, additional 'Hull' surfaces have to be added. Tank boundaries should be set by modeling the boundaries as "hull structures" in Modeler and must include Transverse and Vertical surfaces.
Once tank boundary is created in Modeler, save data and open it in Stability. You may then input tank data in Room Definition window.
Key points:
- Tank boundary has to be part of a Hull, not a Structure.
- Longitudinal boundary - especially where there are multiple longitudinal boundaries in the design, MAXSURF cannot identify which boundary to use and it crashes.
- The tank needs a vertical top or bottom boundary.
- Surface directions have to be pointed outside. The tank is created in the opposite direction than the arrow.
