Explanation

The Data Entry Tool includes 5 default profiles which are based on a location type, these are basic profiles so if you find they dont include fields and/or the tables you're expecting then you can edit the default profiles or even create your own from within OpenGround. If you wish to do this please work through the steps below;

Process

• Login to OpenGround as the Administrator
• Go to system>Configuration Packs>Select your pack
• From the ribbon select "Manage Profiles" as shown below

• In the window that opens, you can start to edit a profile or create your own. I'll go through how to edit one.
• Select the profile you wish to edit and select "Manage Steps"
• The Window that opens will contain a list of all the steps included in the profile, in this example I've used the "Cable Percussion Profile" so the steps shown below are for that profile.

• Select the step you wish to edit, you can then use the up and down arrow to change the position of the step. For example if you want the samples step to be the third step, you would move the samples step up 2 places.
• If you highlight a step and select "edit" you can change where the step will appear in the grid. You can also add extra tables from the "Grids Available" list. so if you want to show multiple tables in a single step you move the the tables you want from "Grids available" to "Grids allocated" and save changes.
• If you wish to add a new step to an existing profile go back to the window shown above and select the "Add" option. You will see its the same as the editing a step window.
  • Give the new step a name
  • Set the location controller as "Location Details"
  • You then may not need a Primary or secondary controller if the table you're adding has the parent table "Location details"
  • If the table you're adding though has a second level parent table the primary controller would need to set to that. For example if your creating a step for "Geotechnical Chemistry Testing" the primary controller would be "Sample". I'ts very unlikely you will ever need to set a Secondary Controller.
  • You can then move the grid you want over to the right hand window and save changes.
• If you set both a "Location controller" (Location Details) and a "Primary Controller" (Samples) you will see that the "Grids Available" list will be empty. This is because by default no grids are setup which are linked to samples. At this point click on "Manage Grids". You will then see the list of already created grids. Ignore those and click on "Create".
  • Give the Grid a name
  • Select the core entity, This will be the table you want to show in the Grid.
  • From the "Columns available", now select the columns you wish to include for that grid.
  • Once done, save the changes.

If all went well, you should now have your new step with its new grid and columns.
