This document is provided to address a known MicroStation MSXML installation issue.

Description

When installing MicroStation V8 under an administrative account on a Windows NT or Windows 2000 based computer, users other than the administrator on that machine will receive errors that MSXML is not properly registered.

Resolution

This issue has been resolved in the MicroStation 08.05.02.27 commercial release installer. If you have a need to patch this issue on versions prior to the MicroStation 08.05.02.27 commercial release as a administrator or power user you can administer any of the following options illustrated with the "silent install" steps required:

RedistSysFiles.exe

Execute the following locally via command shell or using a remote script: ..\Bentley\Program\Install\RedistSysFiles.exe /S /V" /qn REINSTALLMODE=vomus ALLUSERS=1"

Install the latest Microsoft MSXML

Download the latest Microsoft MSXML: http://msdn.microsoft.com/XML/XMLDownloads/default.aspx
Execute the following locally via command shell or using a remote script: msiexec /q /i msxml.msi

Re-register MSXML for the current user
