Product(s) and Version(s):
I-model Composition Server.
Problem:
When creating ad-hoc renditions through Projectwise Explorer using the “create rendition” option, the PDF is generated but it presents inconsistencies in line styles and font styles.
Trouble shooting steps:
- Check which ‘Application’ is specified to be used for opening the file
- Right click on the file and choose Properties. On the General Tab, check the application that is set for this file.

Figure 1. Application configured to open the file
- Sometimes there will be a user defined association causing conflict. Check to see if there is a user defined program association.
- In Projectwise Explorer go to Tools > Associations > Programs.
- Changed the ‘Select an association’ view to “user associations”
- Find the application in the list and expand it
- Click on the ‘Open’ option.
- If there is a path indicated, then there is a user association. To remove it, Right click on the path and choose un-associate.
- If no path is indicated, then there is no user association

Figure 2. Custom user association
- Check the Global association
- In Projectwise Explorer go to Tools > Associations > Programs.
- Changed the ‘Select an association’ view to “Global associations”
- Find the application in the list and expand it
- Click on the ‘Open’ option.
- Check that the path is pointing to the desired application.
- Note you can also check this in Projectwise Administrator via the Application node and make changes if necessary.

Figure 3. Global association
- Check that the desired print engine (the software used to create the file and is set as the "Application” in the properties general tab of the file, (i.e., MicroStation, OpenRoads, OpenBridge, etc.) is installed on the iCS server
- If it is not installed then, proceed with the installation of desired print engine software on the ICS server.
Solution:
In this case, installing the appropriate program to be used as the print engine on the iCS server resolved the problem.
