Does the Create ICM command use the CIVIL_iMODEL_INCLUDE_ICM configuration variable?

Product(s):InRoads, MX, GEOPAK
Version(s):08.11.09+
Area: Model Interoperability

Question:

Can I use the CIVIL_iMODEL_INCLUDE_ICM workspace variable to default the settings in the Create ICM command?

Answer:

This configuration variable is used ONLY by the Publish i-model tool in the MicroStation (or Power product) File>Publish i-model… command.  This i-model, with ICM data embedded, will be used by the OpenRoads Navigator app.

When the Publish i-model tool is run, it checks this variable to determine whether additional civil metadata (such as linear referencing along alignments) should also be copied into the i-model from the Civil Model. If the variable does not exist, then the icm data (i.e. civil metadata) is not embedded into the i-model.  If the value is non-zero as noted below (1,2,or 3) then a temporary icm file is created and embedded within the i-model file.

If the user needs an icm file for export to Trimble Business Center, they will need to run the Model Interoperability>Create ICM tool separately from the Publish i-model tool.

From the Civil Tools help  document:

CIVIL_iMODEL_INCLUDE_ICM

Set to 1 for Design Models only

Set to 2 for Terrain Models only

Set to 3 for both Design and Terrain Models

When publishing an i.dgn that will be used as an .imodel for the OpenRoads mobile application, you need to set this CFG variable to 1, 2, or 3 in order to get the embedded civil data (such as linear referencing).
