Can I Disable Unlicensed Products that are Downloaded with InRoads Suite?

Product(s):InRoads
Version(s):08.11.07+, 08.11.09+
Area: Basic Settings

Question:

In order to obtain a single product (InRoads, Site, Site Suite, Bridge, Storm & Sanitary, Survey), I have to download the entire InRoads Suite.  Is there any method to disable the unlicensed products?

Answer:

There are several options to limit access to unlicensed products:

  1. Delete the unlicensed products from the Windows Start menu.

  2. Locate and delete the executable file.

  3. For the Bentley Rail track products, there is no EXE file because it is included in the download but only available to be initialized through the Applications dropdown in MicroStation.  In order to remove the ability toactivate these products you can delete the DLL files which are used to call up the program.

For Rail Track Suite, go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Bentley\InRoads Group V8.11\bin and delete the InrailSuiteAT.dll

For Bentley Rail Track, go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Bentley\InRoads Group V8.11\bin\products and delete the RailAppAT.dll

Once you try to activate the Bentley Rail Track or Bentley Rail Track Suite application, it will yield a DLL error and the product will not load.

Alternatively, you can try setting up a Custom Activation Group.  Custom Activation Groups are site activation keys that allow your organization to provide users with valid licensing information without releasing your organization’s primary site activation key. Custom Activation Groups can be created for specific products with specific expiration dates within the product and date constraints of your license pool and SELECT agreement.

Note: Keep in mind that accessing a Bentley civil product using the Product Add-In Function does pull a license for the selected product.
