If you get the following error: "self signed certificate in certificate chain"

You will need to follow the steps below to edit the PEM file delivered with ConceptStation.

Editing the PEM FILE:

Double check that the certificate chain has not been altered using the following steps

  1. Using Chrome, go to a https website, like https://connect.bentley.com
  2. Click on the padlock in the address bar

      3. Click on Certificate

4. Go to the Certification Path

Note : If you don't see the same certificate chain as above, it means that your provider is decrypting https communications and re-encrypting them using a different certificate

To solve the problem, you’ll need to do the following steps for both the first and second certificates.

  1. Select the certificate
  2. Click on the View Certificate Button

  1. In the next window, click on the Details Tab and then on the Copy to File… button

     4. This will open the Certificate Export Wizard where you want to pick the Base-64 encored X.509 (.CER) option

  1. Save this to a file and open it with Notepad or any other text editor
  2. Select all the text of the file and Copy it
  3. Open C:\Program Files\Bentley\OpenRoads ConceptStation CONNECT Edition\ConceptStation\cacert.pem
  4. Paste to add this new certificate at the end of the file.
  5. Open C:\Program Files\Bentley\OpenRoads Conceptstation CONNECT Edition\ConceptStation\ScalableMeshCacert.pem
  6. Paste to add this new certificate at the end of the file and save the file.

Repeat the process for the other certificates and try the workflow again in ConceptStation. You do not need to export the bentley.com certificate.
