Introduction: The instructions and video below show how to place lines in OpenRoads SignCAD.
The Lines group in OpenRoads SignCAD includes the following types of lines:
Horizontal Line - A horizontal line that automatically extends the width of the panel relative to the panel size with either no indent, indent to radius or indent a specific value. Unless overridden, the horizontal line width is the same as the panel border width.
Vertical Line - A vertical line that automatically extends the height of the panel relative to the panel size with either no indent, indent to radius or indent a specific value. Unless overridden, the vertical line width is the same as the panel border width.
Arbitrary Line - A line with a fixed length, width and orientation. It does not adjust in size or width with the panel. Use an arbitrary line if you want a specified line length.
The instructions and video below show how to center a dividing line (22" x 0.625") across two sign panels using an arbitrary line in a 1 column, 2 row tabular arrangement.
1) Pick the Arbitrary Line tool. Set the Angle = 0 and the desired Width and Length values.
2) Left click to place the arbitrary line on the workspace.
3) Pick the Arrangement tool and pick tabular from the drop-down. Create a 1 column, 2 row tabular arrangement and left click to place it on the workspace.
4) Add the arbitrary line to the top row of the tabular arrangement.
5) Select the tabular arrangement and pick Properties. In the Tabular Arrangement Properties, set a negative Minimum Row Height value equal to half of the diving line height (-0.313). Set the Row Alignment to Bottom and the Spacing for all sides = 0.
6) Select the arbitrary line that is in the tabular arrangement to bring up the Arbitrary Line Properties. Set the Spacing for all sides to a small number (ex: 0.5").
7) Select the tabular arrangement box and place it in the yellow panel below the text.
8) Select the arbitrary line and reduce the Spacing = 0 for all sides and the Alignment to Bottom, Center.
