Synchronizing updated 3D Models


When updated models are available these can by synchronized from. Assigned 3D resources will retain their assignment to the schedule in SYNCHRO 4D Pro.

If you have chosen to use the 3D importers in SYNCHRO 4D Pro as your model source or started by upgrading a existing SYNCHRO Pro project, perform synchronization within SYNCHRO 4D Pro in the External Data window. For more information, press F1 in SYNCHRO 4D Pro to access the Help and search for “Synchronising FROM a 3D Graphics File”

If you have chosen to use the iModel Connections to bridge 3D models, updated models can be synchronized following these steps:

  1. If you set up scheduled synchronization when creating the iModel Connections, simply make sure that the latest model files are uploaded to the same folder (in SYNCHRO Control, ProjectWise, or ProjectWise365) as the original files. The updated model files should have the same name as the original (i.e. new files should replace the old). The synchronization to the iModel will be performed automatically on the schedule you specified.
  2. If you wish to edit the synchronization schedule, to add or remove files from the connection, or to synchronize the files on demand: in SYNCHRO Control, go to Administration>iModel importer, click the … button on the iModel and choose Connections

  3. To synchronize the files on demand, click on the … to access the menu and choose Synchronize


  4. Wait for the Status to change to Succeeded

  5. To add or remove files from the connection, click on the … to access the menu and choose Change mapping.


  6. If a file has moved, or changed names, remove (unmap) the file and add the file again.
  7. To edit the synchronization schedule, click on the name of the connection
  8. Click the pencil icon to open the Edit connection dialog
  9. Edit the Schedule details

Updated model files synchronized via iModel connections will automatically be reflected in SYNCHRO Control and SYNCHRO 4D Pro after the "synchronize from iModel" transaction completes.
