Working on a cloud-hosted 4D collaboration project requires an active internet connection. If it is necessary to work offline for some reason, a user with full Admin permissions should perform the following steps:
- In advance of going offline, run SYNCHRO 4D Pro
- Open the Control project
- Save the project to a private project .sp file using File>Save As. Files saved this way will have Administrator username and no password, unless the Control project was seeded from an initial SP file containing users.
- If there are multiple users working on the project, it is recommended to inform them that you are working on the project offline since any changes made by other users between when you save the private project and when you re-upload your edited .sp file later will be lost. During this time, only one person at a time should be working on the .sp file and no one should be making changes in 4D Pro to the Control project.
- At this point, the user can go offline and continue working on the private project using File>Open>Private Project.
- Since you are no longer connected to the Control project, be sure to save the project periodically
- When you are finished working offline, go to SYNCHRO Control>Administration>iModel importer
- Select the 4D iModel and open the menu to choose Edit

- Select Re-submit my offline changes

- When replacing the iModel with an updated .sp file, forms in Control (e.g. RFI, Issues) that are linked to the model will be retained, but Saved Views may not continue to work. Press OK to acknowledge

- Enter the .sp file user and password and press Update

- Then wait for the sync to finish before opening the Control project in SYNCHRO 4D Pro

Only one iModel per Control project can be marked 4D or 4D Snapshot. If instead of using the Re-submit my offline changes, you add a new iModel you will be prompted to delete the existing iModel. The following dialog will be raised. Type "delete" and press Delete to completely delete the previous 4D iModel - in this case all forms in the project will lose their association with the model. Otherwise press Cancel, then Edit the existing 4D model to Re-submit my offline changes - which will retain the association between forms and model locations.
