Problem

User has a custom linestyle that contains a point element. Other than setting active linestylescale to a value, is there any way to affect where the point element appears on existing lines without using the shift command?

Solution

Element > Linestyles > Edit. Open up the resource file that contains the linestyle and edit the point component. Then switch the point symbol to the desired location.
