Where can I find the Help file for MicroStation?

Background

Tools specific to promis.e, Bentley Substation, and Bentley Raceway and Cable Management are found in the Tasks area with some additional tool boxes. Help for these tools is found by selecting Help > Contents from the main pull down menus. But there are many other tools included with the software that are part of the MicroStation platform and as such are described in the MicroStation Help file.

This article describes where to find the MicroStation Help file.

MicroStation tools should be used with caution and tested before used on "real" data. Use of some tools may be appropriate in some parts of the software but not others. For example, it may be appropriate to use Drop Element on elements imported from a manufacturer while in [[Create Symbol]], but using Drop Element on a symbol on a project page will cause problems.

From the main pull down menus select Help > MicroStation Help.

1. Use Windows Explorer to browse to the following folder or similar
   C:\Program Files (x86)\Bentley\promise V8i\Documentation\

2. Double-click the Promise_pp.chm file to open.

Bentley Substation

In V8i SELECTseries 8 and later:

From the main pull down menus select Help > MicroStation Help.

In V8i SELECTseries 7 and earlier:

1. Use Windows Explorer to browse to the following folder or similar
   C:\Program Files (x86)\Bentley\Substation V8i\Documentation\

2. Double-click the Substation_pp.chm file to open.

Bentley Raceway and Cable Management

1. Use Windows Explorer to browse to the following folder or similar
   C:\Program Files (x86)\Bentley\BRCM\Documentation\

2. Double-click the BRCM_pp.chm file to open.
