SignCAM Place Registration Mark

Question:

How do I place registration marks on a sign in OpenRoads SignCAD?

Answer:

Registration marks are useful when multiple colors are cut and positioned or when positioning legend on signs with preprinted borders. The images below show the registration marks placed on a sign, in the SignCAM Cut Selected dialog box, and in the view and edit window, where aligning along the border helps position the legend precisely.

Registration marks can be placed along any edge line of the border or panel by selecting SignCAM> Place Registration Mark.  Click on the line in the sign that you want to use as the positional reference. A 1”x 4” mark will attach to the line. The registration mark can be moved along the line or from one side of the line to the other to find the best position.

The three registration marks shown in the image above are placed as shown: 1: along the outside edgeline of the indented border; 2: along the outside edgeline of the panel; and 3: along the inside edgeline of the indented border.

The same three registration marks can be moved to the other side of their respective lines but still attached along them as shown in the image below: 1: along the outside edgeline of the indented border; 2: along the outside edgeline of the panel; and 3: along the inside edgeline of the indented border. Registration mark lines cannot be moved from one line to another. They can only be moved from one side of the line to the other, or along the same line.

Use as many registration marks as desired for best positioning, usually 2 for diamond signs and 3 for rectangular signs. Registration marks are saved in the SignCAD SGN file. MUTCD signs cannot be overwritten. Signs with registration marks saved in them should be saved into a \cutjobs or similar folder. When weeding, leave the marks along with the legend and align the material to the selected edglines.
