Question:

How do I completely remove/uninstall OpenRoads Designer from a machine so I can perform a clean reinstallation?

Answer:

  1. Uninstall OpenRoads Designer through the Systems Settings > Apps & features. Go to Start > Settings > Apps > Apps & features.  You can search for OpenRoads Designer or find it in the list, highlight the program and select 'Uninstall' for Windows to start the uninstall process.

2. After the program is uninstalled you can then delete the following folders to clear the files and folders which remain on the machine after the uninstall.

C:\Program Files\Bentley\OpenRoads Designer CONNECT Edition
C:\ProgramData\Bentley\OpenRoadsDesigner
C:\Users\USER.NAME\AppData\Local\Bentley\OpenRoadsDesigner
C:\Users\USER.NAME\AppData\Local\Bentley\SUDA
C:\Users\USER.NAME\AppData\Local\Bentley\SUE
C:\Users\USER.NAME\AppData\Local\Temp\Bentley\OpenRoadsDesigner
C:\Users\USER.NAME\AppData\Local\Temp\Bentley\SUDA
C:\Users\USER.NAME\AppData\Local\Temp\Bentley\SUE
C:\Users\USER.NAME\AppData\Roaming\Bentley\OpenRoadsDesigner

Please note, the Program Files and ProgramData folders mentioned above have unique names depending on the version installed. For instance, if you have OpenRoads Designer 10.10, these folders need to be removed instead of the ones mentioned above.
C:\Program Files\Bentley\OpenRoads Designer CE 10.10
C:\ProgramData\Bentley\OpenRoads Designer CE 10.10
For OpenRoads 10.11, remove these folders instead.
C:\Program Files\Bentley\OpenRoads Designer CE 10.11
C:\ProgramData\Bentley\OpenRoads Designer CE 10.11

For OpenRoads 10.12, remove these folders instead.
       C:\Program Files\Bentley\OpenRoads Designer CE 10.12
       C:\ProgramData\Bentley\OpenRoads Designer CE 10.12
You also want to delete the following folder (C:\ProgramData\Bentley\OpenRoads Designer CE) if you do not have any custom workspace setup located within the folder.  But only if you have not made changes since install or added other configurations inside this folder.  Otherwise, rename the folder (i.e. OLD_OpenRoads Designer CE) to maintain the information but the delivered information can be reconfigured when reinstalled.

3. It may also be required to clean the registry keys as well to remove any leftover registry items. Note: Be careful to follow these steps carefully and do not delete anything else from the registry.

Open the Registry Editor by searching for the 'Registry Editor' App.

Go to HKEY_CURRENT USER\Software\Bentley and delete the OpenRoadsDesigner key.
Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Bentley and delete the OpenRoadsDesigner key.
