Overview

The ProSteel software has several standard default shape catalog files for different countries. Some organization also has their own standard for various shapes and want to use that customized shape catalog in the ProSteel application. This wiki will guide you to load that customized shape catalog file in the ProSteel application.

Method

Please follow the below steps to achieve this.

1. Suppose, there is an organization named as ABC and has their own shape catalog file (i.e. ABC.mdb) or has customized the existing default ProSteel shape catalog file as per their requirement and renamed it as say ‘ABC.mdb’. (For explaining purpose, I am using the Australian shape catalog file.)

2. After renaming the file, open it and under the Content table there are two columns.

i. Name: Here, we can give the required name that we want to see the Shape Catalog dialog box. For e.g. I have given the same name as that of the file name i.e. ABC.

ii. Bitmap: Here, we need to give the exact name as per the image file name. The *.bmp file is the image file and in the ProSteel that usually contains a Country’s flag, that will be seen as a logo in the Shape Catalog dialog box.

3. Now, copy the ABC.mdb and ABC.bmp file and paste it in the default location of the shape catalogs of the ProStructures CONNECT Edition.

Default path of Shape Catalog File: Drive:\Program Files\Bentley\ProStructures CONNECT Edition\ProStructures\Default\appl\Shapes

4. Now, launch the ProStructures application. Open the Shape dialog box and click on the 5th button at the bottom, that will open the Shape Catalog dialog box. As we can see in the below image the required shape catalog file is get loaded and visible in the Shape Catalog dialog box.

In this manner, we can load the customized shape catalog file in the Shape Catalog dialog box and further can be used for modelling.
